Roof Measurement Reports in Minneapolis, MN
Minneapolis roof reports deal with snow, ice dams, and steeper pitches than a Southern hip. We measure the geometry. We do not design an ice-barrier detail or a snow-load calculation.
Ice dams are a detailing problem sitting on a measured valley
Twin Cities roofs, in Minneapolis and in St. Paul, commonly need a conversation about ice dams, attic ventilation, and steeper pitches. Architectural shingles dominate, with standing seam on some houses and small commercial buildings. Our Premium file gives pitch and the valley and eave lengths people use when they think about ice protection. It does not specify where ice-barrier membrane starts, and it does not cite a code section. Your supplier and the local code do that.
A low-slope addition on an otherwise steep house is a frequent miss. Name it. Alleys and detached garages in the city are the other miss. “House only” and “house and garage” are different bids.
The winter image problem is worse here
Of the cities on this site, the Twin Cities are where snow most often makes a roof unmeasurable for months at a time. If the ridge and eaves are not visible, we refund. Ordering in July is not a trick; it is just when the imagery is more likely to show shingles. We do not dispatch someone with a broom.
Lake-area trees shade older roofs the way they do in any mature city. Northern suburbs and outstate Minnesota are a different snow conversation and live on the Minnesota hub.
What to order when the pitch is steep
Steep, cut-up roofs are a Premium order at $21.83 because one predominant pitch will lie to you. A simple gable you already understand can be Basic at $16.20. Commercial low-slope buildings in the warehouse districts use commercial SKUs. Chicago is the comparison if you also bid bungalows and flat roofs; the mix there is older and flatter. Delivery is 30–60 minutes only when the roof is visible.
Questions
Do you measure ice-dam damage in Minneapolis?
No. We measure area, pitch, and edge lengths. Ice-dam damage and ventilation are site issues.
Do you cover St. Paul?
Yes. The Twin Cities are one ordering area. This page names Minneapolis and includes St. Paul.
Can you measure a roof in January?
Only when the edges are visible through the snow. Otherwise the order is refunded. Summer imagery is often clearer.
Does a steep pitch cost more?
No. Premium is $21.83 whether the pitch is 4/12 or 12/12. Pitch changes your install, not our fee.
